SkillSelect: 11 Oct 2018 invitation round

Number of invitations for 70 points more than triples. Total amount of invitations increases by 74%.

The Department has just released the details of SkillSelect’s 11 October 2018 invitation round. The number of invitations for visa subclasses 189 and 489 went up from 2,490 and 10 on 11 September 2018 to 4,340 and 10, respectively, on 11 October 2018.

The above represents an increase of about 74% in the number of invitations for visa subclass 189. However, as the number of invitations for subclass 489 remained the same (only 10), the writer respectfully finds it difficult to reconcile those numbers with the government’s recent talk about the need to promote regional growth.

The number of invitations sent out to those who claimed 70 points more than tripled, from from 605 to 1,903.

Two occupation groups displayed lowered the threshold from 75 to 70: Software and Applications Programmers and Computer Network Professionals.
