Subclass 494: health waiver available?

The new Subclass 494 visa will "replace" subclass 187 on 16 November 2019. But will the health waiver, which is available for some subclass 187 applicants, be available for subclass 494?

Under Schedule 2 of the Migration Regulations 1994 (Cth) for subclass 187, two types of health criteria apply, depending on the visa stream:

  • The health criterion that applies to the TRT stream is PIC 4007, which has a waiver;
  • The health criterion that applies to the Direct Entry stream is PIC 4005, which does not have a waiver.

Which of those two health criteria will apply to subclass 494 and, as a result, will the health waiver be available in some circumstances?
