According to the Migration Amendment (Family Violence and Other Measures) Commencement Proclamation 2019, the new Migration Amendment (Family Violence and Other Measures) Act 2018 will commence on 17 April 2019

New LIN 19/149: 'For the purposes of paragraph 2.87CD(1)(b) [of the Migration Regulations 1994], the specified manner in which an approved family sponsor is to give details to Immigration of events mentioned in subregulation 2.87CD(2), is through the sponsor’s online ImmiAccount'

It is expected that applications for the new Temporary Sponsored Parent visa subclass will be available on 17 April 2019; sponsors will need to have a taxable income of at least $83,454.80

The Migration (LIN 19/035: Class of Persons and Specified Events for Class GG visa and Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity) visa) Instrument 2019 specifies the INAS 2019 Global Games as an Australian endorsed event for the purposes of a Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity) visa application

'The intention [of the new instrument] is to remove any uncertainty as to the number of weeks a course must be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students'

'The instrument ensures that a person cannot be included in the definition of “fast track applicant” if their application for a protection visa was made before the commencement of the instrument (2 April 2019)'

The new instrument adds 3 entities to the list of professional bodies who may nominate a person to be appointed by the Minister as a member of the Independent Health Advice Panel for the purposes of assessing the physical and mental health of transitory persons who are in regional processing countries

The purpose of the instrument is to support a new online process that will allow New Zealand visa applicants to complete a digital version of Form 15 (the incoming passenger card) and to request an appointment to visit a Departmental office and lodge their visa application in person

'The purpose of this amendment is to rectify a drafting error by substituting the correct ABN for the NSW Rural Doctors Network Ltd'
