The purpose of the instrument is to support a new online process that will allow New Zealand visa applicants to complete a digital version of Form 15 (the incoming passenger card) and to request an appointment to visit a Departmental office and lodge their visa application in person

New Direction No 82 replaces Direction No 77: 'the Government considers that [Sponsors awarded Accredited Status] should be able to access streamlined processing arrangements and their applications should be allocated to a decision-maker for initial assessment as a priority'

"The instrument operates to specify the requirements for making an application for a Subclass 494 visa. For the purposes of subitem 1242(1) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, the instrument specifies the approved form for making a valid application. For the purposes of paragraph 1242(3)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, the instrument also specifies the manner in which an application must be made".

The new instrument specifies an industry association and the categories of membership of that association for the purposes of cl 132.232(3)(a) and (b) of Schedule 2 to the Migration Regulations 1994 (Cth)

On 24 August 2021, a Senator gave a notice of motion for disallowance of an important instrument concerning reviews by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal

'The purpose of LIN 19/093 is to amend section 10 of Part 3 and Column 3 of the table in Schedule 1 to LIN 18/029. The amendment is to ensure consistency of style and format throughout the instrument'

"The purpose of the instrument is to specify Australia and a number of foreign countries for paragraph 5.36(1)(a) [of the Migration Regulations 1994 (Cth)] and the associated currency, or currencies, in which a fee may be paid in that country for paragraph 5.36(1)(b)... It is noted that the instrument has an additional purpose for the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 ..."

A new instrument about the wait period for holders of visa subclasses 116 and 836.

The new Certificate defers the sunsetting date of a legislative instrument "to enable the Department to evaluate the need for amendments to the family violence provisions, evaluate the need for any changes relating to the independent expert, and draft a new instrument, while avoiding having to remake the instrument twice in a short period of time"
