This instrument expands the definition of 'officer' under paragraph (g) in s 5(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth)

"The purpose of the Instrument is to specify institutions for the purposes of paragraph 476.212(b) and disciplines for the purposes of clause 476.212 of Schedule 2 to the Migration Regulations. The Instrument operates to enable recent engineering graduates to live, work or study in Australia for up to 18 months, subject to satisfying the criteria for grant of a subclass 476 visa. Graduates must have completed a degree or higher qualification from a specified institution."

Visa subclass 417 (Working Holiday) - age limit raised to 35 for some countries on 1 November 2018.

The Migration (LIN 19/035: Class of Persons and Specified Events for Class GG visa and Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity) visa) Instrument 2019 specifies the INAS 2019 Global Games as an Australian endorsed event for the purposes of a Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity) visa application

A new instrument has just been registered. It commences on 16 November 2019 and will treat holders of new regional visas as "eligible persons" under the Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cth).

The purpose of the new instrument is "to update the place and manner of lodgement for applications for the Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional (Provisional)) visa in the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Class PS) class of visa" and to "update the definition of departmental email and repeal the definition of official departmental email address to provide clarity regarding an official departmental email address" for visa class PE (subclass 494).

The new instrument specifies different periods of time for the purposes of paragraphs 5.19(5)(f) and (g) of the Regulations, for new classes of persons who are specified for the purposes of theses paragraphs

"The purpose of the instrument is to clarify the types of former Subclass 600 (Visitor) visa (Subclass 600 visa) holders who can apply for a new Subclass 600 visa with a nil visa application charge (VAC) where their travel to Australia has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic"
